This modern home is located in the Highlands, one of Denver’s original neighborhoods, founded in 1858. Within the last decade, the area has experienced a Renaissance complete with renovation of historic homes, and construction of new homes and condos in modern architectural styles. Beyond its sustainable location, this home boasts many energy and resource efficient design features. The project achieved ENERGY STAR qualification, with a HERS Index of 42 and carbon emissions that are 53% lower than a standard home built to code. In addition to a high-performance building envelope, the home is equipped with a solar photovoltaic system that offsets a significant portion of the home’s overall energy usage.
Inhabit Consulting (now a part of Populus, LLC) assisted the project team by providing energy rating and green building consulting services.
