Passive/Aggressive

Passive or Aggressive – the choice is yours.
There are two primary means of capturing free, abundant energy from the sun – passive solar design to capture and hold heat within your home or more aggressive, active renewable energy systems that capture and store energy either in water, batteries or the electrical grid. The passive folks will tell you it’s all about solar orientation, high-performance windows and a tight, well insulated envelope. The active folks will say it’s all about sexy high-tech systems like evacuated tubes and photovoltaic panels. The good news is they’re both right.  At Populus we are dedicated to helping our clients strike the right balance of passive and active strategies to meet their particular needs and desires.  Let us put our tools, expertise and experience to work for you to ensure that your next project is just as passive/aggressive as you like.

Save the Dogma for Your Mama.
These days, there’s no shortage of folks pronouncing the “right” and “wrong” way to build high-performance homes.  At Populus, we understand that every project and every client is different   There simply is no one-size-fits-all solution when it comes to building a high-performance home.  We take pride in our ability to understand each of our clients’ needs and budget, to analyze the unique conditions presented by every project site, to help select and integrate the right building components for the job, to work smoothly and cooperatively with architects, builders and contractors from start to finish, and to provide the flexibility necessary to ensure a project’s ultimate success.
