Philosophy

For the People, For the Planet

It’s more than a catchphrase, it’s our guiding philosophy

For the People

We are committed to creating a healthier environment for this generation and future generations.

At Populus, sustainability means more than creating homes in harmony with their environment, it’s about creating healthy, comfortable and welcoming spaces in which to dwell. Our commitment to the promotion of thoughtful, energy efficient design is not just about reducing our carbon footprint, it’s also about improving homes for their inhabitants. In general, green homes are healthier, more durable, result in reduced energy costs and are less resource intensive than conventional homes - that means long-term energy savings, increased energy independence and a healthier environment.

For the Planet

By increasing energy efficiency and utilizing clean renewable energy, we can stop global warming. Populus is committed to doing its part.

We make a difference by helping our clients create high-performance buildings. Increasing the energy efficiency of the built environment will drastically reduce carbon emissions. According to the U.S. Department of Energy, the residential sector accounts for 22% of the total energy consumed nationally and is responsible for 21% of U.S. carbon dioxide emissions, a major contributor to global warming.

We don’t just talk the talk. At Populus, we are committed to reducing the impact of our operations on the planet. Our office is solar-powered. We purchase vehicles with high miles per gallon ratings and low amounts of embodied energy. We also implement sustainable business practices, including 100% recycled paper, energy efficient computers, compact fluorescent bulbs, recycling and composting, to name a few. In addition, Populus donates a portion of its services each year to promote energy efficiency.
